Writing a Persuasive Essay
There are several different ways that you may select a topic for your persuasive essay. You may be given a prompt by your teacher or a choice of several prompts. Or you may have to come with an appropriate topic yourself.
If you do have some choice in the topic selection, it’s helpful if you go for the one that interests you. Here is the list of some interesting persuasive essay topics:
Brainstorm the essay ideas by using whichever method that works best for you. The method may be free writing, listing or clustering. Jot down your thoughts about your topic. Make sure you aware of where you are standing on the issue.
Discuss you topic with your classmates, family and friends to know what are their responses about it? The responses that you get from the discussion will give you a preview of how they would respond to your opinion in your essay paper. This will give you even more clue what you are supposed to say to persuade them to your point of view.
Read and research as much as you can about your essay topic sitting libraries or searching online.
It may seem understandable, but you really have to think about how you are going to persuade your reader. Use calm, reasoning tone and make sure haven’t insulted your readers in your paper. Depend on logic rather than emotion. Give the most logical argument in explaining your reader why, despite the other side of the argument, your viewpoint is the “right”.
Make sure that points you have made are well organized and your supporting ideas are clear and to-the-point.
It is very important that you use specific and relevant strong examples to illustrate your main points. You must give your reader a solid impression that you are firmly educated on the issues related to your topics.
Best of luck Students!
