So you want to write a thesis but don’t know where to start? Have you selected your research topic and are clueless what to do next?
The main aim of any research is to present logical arguments to a proposed supposition based on rational investigation and evidence. After the topic of research has been selected, you need to articulate the designing and planning process of your study, also known as the research objectives and questions but it is much easier to look at your research questions in terms of aims and objectives as they can be defined more simply and precisely. They are the most important part of your research report as they tell your viewers what you wish to achieve through your study and how you plan to do it.
What should your study objectives and aims include in the research?
What do you plan to do?
After the selection of your research topic, you need to form general statements to inform readers what do you plan to achieve through your research study? These statements are broadly defined and long term goals that will specify the desired outcomes of your study. They should be relevant to your study topic and should not be more than 2 or 3 lines.
After your aim has been formulated, it needs to be broken down into specific tasks that would help achieve that aim. That is called formulating the objectives. Both the aim and the objectives are concise and brief statements that are interrelated but where aim is a general statement, objectives are particular and detailed declarations and are generally more than one.
Since research objectives are the core and central theme of a research report based on which are the problem statements and research proposals, make sure that you answer the following research objectives and research questions clearly and definitely.
Remember that at the end of your research report, you will need to analyze if your study has achieved the motioned aims and objectives or not? So make sure that you use methodology for your research report accordingly.
