Tip # 1
Questions should flow from general to specific.

Take for example

Q: Do you like chocolates? (General)
Q: What specific brands of chocolates do you like? (Specific)

Tip # 2
Questions should flow from logically from one question to another.

Questions moving logically from one to another	Questions moving illogically from one to another
Do you like milk?	What brand of milk do you use?
What brand of milk do you use?	Do you drink milk?
Why do you like that milk b rand?	Why do you like that brand of milk?

The rows on the left move logically, from one question to the other where as the one on the right just makes no sense. What is the use of asking the brand of milk from a person if he does not even drink milk?

Tip # 3
Questions should flow from factual to opinion questions.

For example
Do you drive a car? (Factual)
Do you think by installing ABS brakes you can avoid more accidents? (Opinion)

Tip # 4

Your questions should not be biased.

Tip # 5
Your questions should not influence an answer.
For example

Don’t you think if we installed ABS brakes you and your kids can avoid future accidents? (Influencing the respondents by saying don’t you think and inserting personal sentiments).

Better way to ask would be
Would installing ABS brakes avoid more accidents in your point of view?

CLOSE ENDED: Where we have a question whose answer is “yes or no” or have multiple choice answers.

OPEN ENDED: Where you have a free hand in writing the answer. You can write what ever you feel right.
